Short Biography
Dr. Yohanes Bimo Dwianto is an academic and aerospace engineer, currently serving as a Lecturer in the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Institut Teknologi Bandung (FMAE ITB) in Indonesia.
Dr. Bimo’s academic journey began with the pursuit of knowledge, culminating in both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics, both of which he completed at ITB in 2013 and 2015, respectively. During his formative years, he gained valuable experience as an academic assistant in FMAE ITB, laying the groundwork for his future in academia.
His dedication to academic excellence led him to pursue a doctoral degree at the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at The University of Tokyo in Japan under the supervision of Prof. Akira Oyama from Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan Aerospace and Exploration Agency, Japan. In 2020, he successfully completed his doctoral program, earning a Ph.D.
His research interests encompass a wide range of areas, including evolutionary algorithms, surrogate modeling, and aerodynamic design optimization. Moreover, he actively contributes to engineering design, such as wind turbine, car structure, and gas turbine engine design and analysis.
After attaining his doctoral degree, Dr. Bimo continued to make contributions to the field of aerospace engineering. He served as a postdoctoral fellow at FMAE ITB, dedicating his efforts to research related to the development of machine learning and optimization methods for severely constrained engineering design and analysis.
